Ryan Hartmann, Ph.D.

Dr. Hartmann is a clinical psychologist working in Avon and Bloomfield that has extensive experience with many areas of mental and behavioral health problems. General Life Stressors
Dr. Hartmann provides treatment to individuals encountering situational stressors.  These stressors can include relationships ending, changes in employment, coping with physical ailments, family difficulties, divorce, parents of children with special needs, children whose parents are divorced/divorcing and other life stressors.

Mood and Anxiety
Dr. Hartmann has extensive experience working with depression, anger management, and Bipolar Disorder, and other mood concerns.  Areas of Anxiety treatment include General Anxiety, Social Phobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), School Anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). 

AD/HD Testing
Dr. Hartmann has an expertise in testing for Attention Deficit and/or Hyperactivity Disorder (also known as ADD or ADHD).  In addition to subjective behavior rating scales, it is very important to have a thorough assessment that includes objective testing to determine if any attention, impulsivity, or hyperactivity deficits are present.  Dr. Hartmann administers an objective test, the IVA+Plus, as a component of his comprehensive AD/HD testing.  Children AD/HD testing, Adolescent AD/HD testing, and Adult AD/HD testing are all offered.

Substance Abuse/Addiction Treatment
Dr. Hartmann has extensive experience working with substance abuse, including abuse comorbid with other mental health difficulties.  Referrals to a higher level of treatment will be made when necessary.  Dr. Hartmann also works with individuals that have recently completed an inpatient rehabilitation or intensive outpatient program.  Addiction treatment can be offered at many steps of the rehabilitation process.  Subject to availability, a support group for medical professionals with addictions is offered.

Behavior Problems
Dr. Hartmann offers treatment for children and adolescents that are struggling with behavior problems.  Dr. Hartmann utilizes a whole family approach working in conjunction with parents to develop behavior plans that motivate and interest the child, as well as increasing control for parents.

Couples Therapy
Dr. Hartmann provides treatment to couples seeking assistance in their relationship, premarital counseling and marital therapy.  Dr. Hartmann provides couples counseling at any stage of a relationship that facilitates healthy and productive communication and fosters understanding.

Academic Achievement, Transitioning and Preparation
Dr. Hartmann has successfully worked with adolescents and young adults as they prepare to continue their education after high school.  Treatment is also offered for those individuals that struggle with transitioning into the college experience or those that take a break from school.  College students that drop out are also able to explore their options realistically and then create goals to continue progress in their lives.    

Psychological Testing
Dr. Hartmann is qualified to complete a full battery of psychological testing.  This testing includes psychoeducational (IQ and Achievement) and social-emotional (Personality, Behavior, Depression, Anxiety, etc.) assessments.
