Jill Shalan, Ph.D.

Jill Shalan, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist at Beacon Behavioral Services, specializing in adult psychotherapy and assessment. She conducts both short- and long-term psychotherapy, integrating interpersonal, psychodynamic, family systems and cognitive-behavioral approaches.

Dr. Shalan treats a range of psychological problems including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, identity/self-esteem issues, trauma/abuse histories, personality and psychotic disorders, substance abuse/addictions, parenting and life stress, body image and weight problems, and relationship dysfunction.

Dr. Shalan has a sub-specialty in adult forensic assessment, which includes the evaluation of individuals involved in civil or criminal legal proceedings, disability/personal injury cases and custody disputes. She also provides professional consultation, expert legal testimony and record review for attorneys and their clients.
Dr. Shalan has been at Beacon Behavioral Services since 2009. Previously, she worked in various inpatient, outpatient, and correctional settings in New York. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Michigan in 1989, and her doctorate from St. John’s University in New York City in 1996.

Dr. Shalan completed her post-doctoral training at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center in New York City. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Connecticut Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology.
